Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE: The Director, Merchandising Operations Deli Food Service is a key team member of National Deli Food Service team. The Director's primary responsibility is support of the deli/foodservice department across all divisions and Own Brands, including data analysis, new program communication, the creation of new scale coded programs and the redevelopment of existing programs in the Deli & Prepared Food operations. The duties of this role focus on tasks and/or work that are unique to the department and require knowledge and deep understanding of all systems that support new item set up, promotions, and sales analysis.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:* Work collaboratively with retail support for all divisions regarding new and existing scale items* Act as a deli/food service liaison to retail support services team across all divisions* Partner cross functionally with business units creating processes and documentation key programs and reinvention of existing programs* Primary partner with the Sourcing Packaging Team* Heavily involved with the selection of the packaging in general and links to OB for artwork requirements plus cost review, scaling of program, material review for sustainability and compliance with packaging regulations.* Works closely with the sustainability team and the vendor community for sushi programs and partnership with Fish Wise including Top 5 by 2022 Commitment.* Responsible for SME for key marketing programs like Monopoly, Stock Up, etc.* Manages the recap of holiday dinner code/size communications including PLUs for Turkey Bucks* Partners with the digital team and call center for holiday programs.* Partners with legal for contracts (creation, compliance reviews, etc.), regulation from federal, state and county levels plus information pursuant to legal demand/subpoena.* Works with the NASC for issues related to vendor payments, taxes, 3rd party payments, etc.* Works with QA for recall and incident data/communication* Manage and respond to inquiries in area of responsibility* Communicate and provide guidance to all divisions and vendors on new item process, critical documentation and expectations* Apply the applicable Albertsons Companies Freshness Dating Policy appropriately* Apply the SMIC structure and assignment thereof for new items and re-smics* Determine the scope of Deli/Prepared Food items under the Affordable Care Act* Manage information and documentation from various sources for specific item projects* Check information and documentation for completion and accuracy* Analyze information/data/documents and make determinations within defined guidelines, parameters, and instruction* Complete new item submission forms* Ensure new items are compliant with all Albertsons Companies Food Safety policies* Check own work for accuracy* Create and maintain status log of new scale item projects* Review Optiva item status and provide Optiva approvals within defined guidelines, parameters and instruction* Use SSIMS, Portal based reports, PI, Teradata, Gold and similar Albertsons Companies tools* Electronically sort, file and maintain project documents plus search and investigate information found in files* Complete detailed keyboarding projects such as preparing new item submissions and program analysis* Ability to multi-task and manage a variety of new items/programs in response to changing priorities* Work collaboratively with other business units* Act as a resource to staff in the business unitRelevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Education Level:* Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.Experience Level:* 8-10+ years retail merchandising experience including perishable and non-perishable products and programs* 3-5+ years retail operations, marketing and finance experienceSkills and Experiences:* Prior Deli/Prepared Food experience* Knowledge of Deli/Prepared Food product mix* Demonstrated success record in collaborating with multiple functional areas to achieve overall company goals.* Strong organizational skills and the ability to track manage multiple projects* Highly self-motivated, assumes personal accountability for results and performance.* Strong written and verbal communication skills* Strong attention to detail* Ability to understand, interpret and implement policies and best practices* Strong analytical skills* Excellent computer skill: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point)* Math skills at a specific level (i.e. one step: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division or two step percent calculations or more advanced)* Demonstrates the ability to work independently as well as in a team environmentPhysical Environment:The following attempts to communicate the traditional physical demands associated with this position:**Seldom: 1-2 hours, Occasional: 3-4 hours, Frequent: 5-6 hours, Continuous: 7+ hours (Based on an 8 hour work day.)* Squat/Kneel: Continuous* Bend/Stoop: Continuous* Lift/Carry: Occasional lift/carry 1-50 lbs.* Push/Pull: Occasional, push/pull 1-50 lbs.
