As the Director of Financial Services, you will lead the overall credit function of a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) or a significant geographical region/sub-function across SBUs. You will serve as a key business partner with leadership teams and establishes metrics and processes to achieve cash flow and operating expense goals - DSO, past due %, bad debt expense, etc. All while developing and implementing policies regarding new customer on-boarding, credit evaluation and extension, collections and disputes.
Responsibilities:
- Works with Talent Development at a high level to create depth within our bench. Identifies high potentials and organization risk, creates pipeline for succession planning. Recruits and leads senior managers and managers in the organization.
- Designs and leads collections and credit organization assessments to include structure, business processes, leadership competencies, policy development and compliance.
- Conducts periodic assessments of accounts receivable portfolios, focusing on collection efficiency and appropriate risk management processes.
- Partners with other business unit leaders to drive accounts receivable issue resolutions.
- Leads continuous improvement efforts including processes, systems, and investigation of third-party support targeted to improve collection efficiencies and risk management approaches.
- Partners with operating units and information technology in developing system enhancements for improved receivable management.
- Designs audit and SOX controls to maintain financial stewardship and compliance.
- Monitors accounts receivable key metrics, analysis, and reporting to deliver on cash flow goals for the company.
- Provides approval of credit limit and payment terms, including on-going credit risk monitoring for national strategic accounts portfolio in accordance with the company level of authority (LOA).
- Conducts customer visits to build relationships, add value and to support and increase sales. Partners with Sales to conduct financial assessments and to address payment and contractual issues, and financial assessment to creatively support sales opportunities.
- Provides direction and oversight in handling significant customer distress situations and customer litigation.
- Manages and leverages key internal relationships, including corporate management in Finance, IT, legal, Human Resources, Operations management, National Accounts management, sales leaders, accounts managers, and regional leaders.
- Manages and leverages company-wide external relationships related to accounts receivable management, including, but not limited to collection agencies, credit reporting agencies, securitization agencies, invoice and billing providers, software service providers.
- Assists with due diligence, acquisitions, and special projects, as required.
- Pursues excellence through automation and digitization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in Business, Accounting, or related field required; Master’s preferred.
- Licenses/Certificates/Designations – NACM, CCP or similar preferred
- 10 years of credit and collections, accounting, finance, supply chain or general business experience.
- 8 years of operating in decentralized, matrixed organization required.
- Minimum 4 years of progressive managerial and demonstrated leadership in directing a large global staff required.
- Knowledge and experience in legal aspects of credit for multi-industry customers, including bankruptcy, secured transactions, financing, liens, etc.
- Ability to lead process improvement and system configuration enhancements.
- Presentation skills, ability to explain ideas and influence outcomes.
- Proactive problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross functional and global environment.
- Ability to build and maintain successful relationships with sales, corporate functions, and external customers
- Ability to travel up to 25%
This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.
For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
