Job Description

As our Director of Business Operational Risk for Individual Markets, you provide the leadership, strategy, innovation, governance, and management necessary to co-execute the proper management and assessment of operational risks across multiple stakeholders, drive risk content discussions, make control remediation recommendations, develop lessons learned, aggregate such risks, integrate for executive reporting and spearhead new risk initiatives and projects. You will roll out the operational risk framework, develop and execute risk reporting, support risk register action tracking and event reporting. You AreA leader who is self-motivated, thinks broadly and can synthesize information. You have business savvy enough to interface effectively with cross-functional stakeholders especially executive leaders to strengthen our overall system of controls and develop credibility with business leaders. You Will Coordinate risk and control assessments of identified business processes or risk themes. Explore emerging risk areas and partner with business leaders to assess exposure and preparedness. Perform event root cause analysis and develop lessons learned. Make control remediation recommendations. Manage the ongoing tracking of risk register and key control issues and ensure ongoing reporting and follow-up. Identify Key Risk Indicators and link to business or Corporate Risk reporting as needed. Approve, decline or review exceptions to USB, online storage, print-at-home, access segregation of duties or other themes as assigned. Perform the role of Control Model Officer. Ensure the Committee receives proper line of sight into broad business and functional risk areas via periodic agenda updates or agenda with a risk-based focus and escalations take place as warranted. Reporting Relationships As our Director of Business Operational Risk for Individual Markets you will report to our Vice President Operational Risk, Group Benefits and Individual Markets who reports to our Head of Operational Risk Management as part of our Corporate Operational Risk organization. You have A Bachelor's Degree is required. An MBA and CPA/CFA are preferred but not required. Ten years of risk management, audit or finance experience within financial services or consulting industry is required. A background in the insurance industry is a strong plus. Proven operational risk management and control experience. Strong knowledge of individual insurance products and related operational aspects. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills and an aptitude for detail. Ability to think critically, analyze, prioritize, take initiative, and problem-solve. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and operational risk GRC tools, especially Archer highly desired. Location and Travel This role is a work from home position and can be located anywhere in the continental United States. We have a preference for you to be located near one of our offices in the Northeast United States, specifically Hudson Yards in New York City, Holmdel NJ, Bethlehem PA, Pittsfield MA or Stamford CT.
