Description
Reporting to the Canadian Development Leader, the Development Manager will be responsible for growing a superior book of multi-line business in Canada by maintaining existing broker relationships and establishing new partner networks. This will also include developing and supporting all growth and sales initiatives for all product lines across CFC. The role will work collaboratively with our global colleagues and will assist in creating efficiencies and processes around enhancing business development efforts locally. The role will encompass fostering existing relationships; identifying and onboarding new broker partner networks; accelerating and enhancing submission flow across all lines; proactively identifying, supporting and capitalizing on new business opportunities; and providing internal and external training and education.
The Development Manager will require occasional international travel and regular travel throughout Canada. There will have a heavy focus on our fast-growing Canadian broker partnerships.
Although the role will not be directly responsible for underwriting, it will require close interaction with the global underwriters to ensure that messaging is aligned with underwriting strategy and to gain insight on day-to-day interactions between our underwriters and broker partners. It will equally require regular engagement with product leader, marketing, and distribution teams.
About the role
- Responsible for key account management and performance metrics with a focus on Canadian relationships
- Building the CFC brand and profile in the Canadian market
- Development of existing and new broker relationships, including on-boarding
- Developing and enhancing submission flow across all CFC products
- Identifying and providing advocacy and support for new business opportunities
- Participation in the delivery of presentations both in person and virtually
- Working with marketing to develop sales support materials for broker partners based on market demand
- Maintain extensive knowledge of key competitors and relevant product offerings
- Identification of new go to market strategies
- Frequent engagement with underwriting teams to align with underwriting strategy
About you
- Significant experience within the Canadian corporate insurance market
- Proven business development capabilities in a development focussed role
- Strong knowledge of technical aspects across multiple insurance product lines
- Excellent understanding of Canadian insurance conventions and practices
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work to meet tight deadlines and turnaround times
- Resilient and able to operate effectively and accurately under pressure
- Good communications skills, courtesy, and patience
- Ability to work relatively autonomously
