We are currently seeking a Privacy Strategy Lead to join our team in Plano, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).

Privacy Strategy Lead - Position Description

(remote based role for NTT Data Services)

The person in this role will oversee the overall strategic development and implementation of the Company's global data privacy framework, applicable policies and procedures, and the related governance operating model. Such person must possess a strong understanding and working knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations globally. The individual performing such role must possess strong program management skills/experience and have the ability to effectively manage a team and partner with other business and technology teams to design/implement the necessary and appropriate policies and procedures.

Such person will work closely and collaboratively with the information security, business/delivery, legal, procurement, and compliance teams. The person in such capacity must be a strategic thinker, have the ability to recognize and evaluate data privacy risks to the company and develop practical solutions for that data privacy risk in a complex and ever-evolving global data protection and privacy environment. The person in this role must also be willing to take an active role in completing tasks in order to advance the strategic objectives of the data privacy program in collaboration with the operational data privacy lead. Such individual must possess an "ownership mentality," but simultaneously work collaboratively as part of the data privacy team.

This position reports to the Deputy General Counsel and is available immediately.

The duties of the position include the following:

  • Take the leadership role in managing the strategic direction of the Company's current global data privacy program by defining, developing, maintaining and implementing procedures that enable consistent, effective privacy practices and minimize risk, ensuring confidentiality of protected information.
  • Strong [legal and] practical knowledge of global data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, PIPEDA, VCDPA, etc.) and other applicable draft, pending and forthcoming legislation
  • Work collaboratively with the Data Privacy Operational Lead to align the overall data privacy strategy with the implementation of the operational objectives of the program.
  • Work with Executive Leaders, Senior management, and Information Security to advance the objectives and governance of the data privacy program.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer to ensure security and data privacy concerns are aligned
  • Review and revise data privacy policies, notices, data processing agreements, group transfer agreements and other privacy materials in compliance with global data privacy laws and regulations
  • Act as the named Data Protection Officer in those jurisdictions where required by law or regulation
  • Oversee, the development of data privacy training objectives to employees as well as the client delivery teams within the Company
  • Work collaboratively with the information security incident response team on the company's security incident response with respect to any breach determination and notification processes under applicable data privacy laws and regulations globally
  • Represent the company's data privacy program and interests with other global opco's, 3rd party vendors, customers, and other external 3rd parties.
  • Serve as the point of contact between the company and any relevant supervisory authority globally related to any audits or investigations
  • an information privacy resource to the organization regarding release of information and to all departments when data privacy issues arise

Requirements for the Position:

  • College degree and 5+ years in the information technology industry.
  • Prior experience 2+ years leading a global data privacy program and relevant data privacy and security certifications
  • Strong understanding of global data protection and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, LGPD, CCPA/CPRA, PIPEDA, etc.) in order to effectively manage and direct the Company's global data privacy program strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive applicable stakeholders to effectively/practically address compliance issues in a collaborative corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability of applying requirements to practical operational issues.
  • Strong program management skills, including ability to lead multiple work streams in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Strong experience with risk and security compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; experience and skill in balancing business needs and potential compliance risks.
  • Judgment, objectivity, professionalism and integrity necessary to address sensitive, confidential, complex data protection/privacy issues.
  • Ability to advise senior executives, business leaders and information security professionals.
  • Ability to collaborate with members of the legal team, information security team, and business leaders on a broad range of data privacy matters, projects and initiatives.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills;ability to manage and prioritize many tasks to deliver timely, high-quality work.

Basic Minimum Requirements:

  • College degree required
  • 5+ years in the information technology industry.
  • Prior experience 2+ years leading a global data privacy program
