CaptionCall, LLC. offers Internet protocol captioned telephone service (IP CTS) using advanced technology and a captioning agent to quickly provide written captions of what callers say on a large, easy-to-read screen. Job Summary The Sorenson Communications Corporate Interpreting Team provides ASL/English interpreters for Sorenson employees, customers, and guests who have varying communication preferences and needs. Most often though, this team provides interpreting services for Deaf professionals employed by the company. Interpreting services are provided in a variety of settings such as: Staff meetings, Company-wide announcements, Trainings (groups varying in size), Interviews, and Product Review meetings. These meetings may take place in person, remotely -- byway of the videophone, other technology platforms, or a combination of both. A successful candidate must be an energetic self-starter with well-developed interpersonal skills and exceptional communications skills. Such qualities will help the candidate effectively navigate and interpret in a highly technical and fast-paced corporate environment. The candidate must be flexible and able to easily adjust to new and challenging circumstances while maintaining the role of the interpreter. The Corporate Interpreting Team culture fosters creativity, while encouraging positivity, open dialogue and feedback amongst one another. A successful candidate must be a team player who displays the ability to thrive on a small staff interpreting team. This position is for part time employment, without benefits. If selected, the candidate will be required to work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, for a minimum of 24 hours per week. This position has the flexibility of additional hours on Mondays and/or Fridays. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide ASL/English interpreting for Deaf and Hearing employees across all departments. Assist in scheduling - coordinating the interpreting needs for each department. Assist in video remote interpreting requests. Work as a Video Relay Services interpreter. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Travel Requirements Travel Requirements: 0-25% Certification Minimum/Preferred Certification Description Minimum Certification Current Certification from one of the following: RID CSC, RID CI/CT, NAD IV, NAD V, NIC, Utah Professional, BEI III, IV or V, BEI Advanced or BEI Master Experience Minimum Years of Experience Description 10 working experience as an ASL/English interpreter 5 working experience as a VRS interpreter 3 working experience evaluating interpreters working experience scheduling interpreters Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Exceptional understanding of Deaf culture. Fluency in ASL and English Exceptional signing and voicing skills. Thorough knowledge and adherence to the RID Code of Professional Conduct. Demonstrates ability to work under pressure and be flexible; ability to work independently and cooperatively while in person and/or remotely. Demonstrates ability to work effectively - respectfully with the, Corporate Interpreting Team, HQ staff, Executives, department leaders, and employees, both Deaf and Hearing, from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrates flexibility to work with a changing schedule, including last minute requests. Demonstrates ability to accept feedback and implement positive change. Excellent customer service skills. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Able to sit/ stand for a long period of time in an office environment Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, tools, and to handle other computer components Ability to Travel, and work nights and weekend.
