Job Description


  • Salary: $140K - $160K DOE
  • Requirements: Startup Experience
  • Location: Los Angeles, CA (Remote)

Our client, a rapidly growing startup ($20M+ revenue) is primed for substantial growth and actively seeking a Controller to play a crucial role in steering their corporate accounting operations during their next phase of growth. This role reports directly to the CEO and involves overseeing a small team of accounting operations professionals. Manage Day-to-Day Accounting Operations:

  • Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and cash management processes.
  • Review and approve expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies and guidelines.
  • Supervise revenue recognition processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial information to support decision-making.
  • Ensure financial statements comply with relevant regulations and standards.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Evaluate and monitor company policies and procedures, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with department heads to coordinate the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and provide insights for adjustments as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts to support strategic planning.

Business Performance Metrics:

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess business performance.
  • Provide regular reports and analysis on KPIs to management.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement based on performance metrics.

Ad Hoc Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare insightful reports and presentations for management.
  • Assist in special projects and initiatives as required.
  • Base Salary: $140K - $160K DOE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory position.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with Netsuite preferred
