We are a developer of construction software and a high-end construction project management consultancy. Improving construction strengthens the very foundation of human civilisation. (Watch our short film about it) 

As a consultancy, we are focused on genuinely upgrading the way construction projects are delivered. We bring control and clarity to projects using a pragmatic mix of the latest technology, our own processes, and a big dose of common sense.

The Role 

Purpose of the role 

You will be expanding our global reach and supporting our growth through developing new business strategies, forming new relationships and ultimately winning us new projects and clients to work with.

Team 

Our Growth team is made up of our sales, marketing & video teams. Together, we tell the Laminar story to the world and make sure we are in the best possible position to continue forming long-lasting relationships with new customers. Your leader will be the overall Growth Director.

  1. To build genuine relationships with our customers while guiding them through our buying process

Your top 5 responsibilities  

  1. Ownership of several key market segments: you’ll have full autonomy as you oversee our end to end sales process for several key market segment areas, working closely with a range of our senior leaders to drive our business development efforts 

  2. Improve our processes and strategy: through providing ongoing feedback from your conversations with those in the field, development of new ideas and service offerings and consolidation of our best practice 

  3. Implement new things: Keep up to date with the latest in sales & marketing systems and techniques, making recommendations on what we should be doing to stay ahead of the curve 

  4. Expand your industry knowledge: Continuously develop your industry & market knowledge and help us identify target growth areas and develop our business plans 

  5. Develop everyone around you: Maximise the development of your team personally and professionally and educate our wider team and clients as well through sharing knowledge 

Your Capabilities 

You will be a natural effective communicator and influencer with excellent relationship-building skills but also the aptitude to quickly understand complex problems through intelligent questioning and a sound understanding of the construction industry and building a b2b business. 

Must-have (The fundamentals)  

  • Mastery: An excellent overall knowledge of the construction industry, regional markets and the market research skills to perform deep-dive analyses and investigations that uncover intelligence to shape our sales and expansion strategies 

  • Communication: A confident and clear communicator who can build rapport with people from all backgrounds and at all business levels 

  • Leadership: You lead yourself proactively and lead others by asking the right questions and challenging them 

  • Impact: A track record of successfully managing a b2b service-based sales process from prospecting through to onboarding 

Nice to have (If you don’t have it now you will after joining) 

  • Mastery: An amazing bid writer with a high win rate when creating responses to RFP’s and tenders related to our services 

  • Communication: A true master in the art of influencing and persuasion with an extensive network in the construction and tech start-up industries 

  • Leadership: A proven leader/coach/developer of teams or teams of teams 

  • Impact: A track record of developing and executing new business strategies that have had huge business impact and improving internal processes beyond just sales

Can you tell me more about what the role is like? 

You’ll work alongside many of our senior leaders in growing our business. With the support of your own dedicated researcher, you will be responsible for driving all of our business development activities across a range of our key market sectors. We have big growth plans so your role is likely to evolve as we grow too. 

Where would I be working? 

Our business development roles are primarily remote and home-based however there may be times when you need to travel for the odd meeting or industry event. On average we wouldn’t expect this to be any more than once per month. If you are close to one of our offices you can come in and work from there as often as you like too.
