Welwyn Garden City or Central London (but also with the option to work predominately from home)

The role

Fantastic opportunity to join a market leading business as Business Intelligence Developer, working with the senior leadership teams to create visually compelling, informative, and insightful information.

Relationships are key in this role and with your great communication skills, you easily engage and influence stakeholders at all levels. You will work consultatively and collaboratively across our businesses to understand their problems and opportunities, and identify opportunities to use data to enhance and support the business.

You will turn specifications and ideas into compelling BI solutions that deliver value and insights.

You will ensure solid technical foundations that support effective and efficient BI operations as you continually challenge yourself to deliver best-in-class, highly available, user-centric services that underpin business success and the relationship between our clients, educators, and employees.

Identifying industry trends and BI related technological advances, you will continually look to introduce, incorporate, and transfer new ideas and approaches to assist in keeping the business in its market leading position.

Driving data accuracy and integrity across all areas, you work to ensure reporting output and live information is timely and correct, guaranteeing confidence in our BI capabilities and delivery.

You will own the delivery and tracking of your BI projects to ensure they are completed on time and to budget, owning issues and risks, coordinating the activities of others, and reporting to the general leadership team on progress.

Working across the full Microsoft stack, you will leverage SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, and Power BI to effectively build and enhance data warehouse solutions; utilising the date warehouse to generate reports and business decisions through data produced.

A mix of data engineering, data modelling, data visualisation, reporting and monitoring/supporting activities, it will require you to develop experience of Azure, SQL, Power BI Models/datasets, Power automate, PowerApps, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Build relationships with business groups and their leaders.

Scoping, designing, and delivering deep-dive analytics for specific projects and/or ad-hoc requests. These could vary from rapid interrogation of existing data to large-scale exploratory analytics.

Support the integration of new acquisitions using data and compelling reporting.

Undertake continuous analysis of both business intelligence requirements and the use of data to identify areas for improvement and/or enhancements.

Act as key contact across the wider group to advise and contribute to the broader BI group strategy and provide constructive challenge where necessary.

Deliver core elements of the BI roadmap, including both business-as-usual as well as future developments and upgrades.

Help the business remain compliant with respective data and privacy legislation, such as GDPR.


Proven experience working in BI teams and environments.

Strong communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Experience working with key stakeholders to understand business drivers and relate them to BI capability.

Ability to think strategically but act pragmatically and proactively.

Possess an ability to spot data that does not 'look right'.

Curious, tenacious, and imaginative with a willingness to continuously learn, including taking relevant technology and industry certification.

A problem-solver able to work with both internal and external resources to resolve on-going short- or medium-term critical BI issues that may arise.


A minimum of 10 years of experience as a BI professional with full-stack BI exposure.

Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data modelling techniques, and data visualisation.

Experience & understanding of database management systems and extensive knowledge of T-SQL.

Demonstrate knowledge and capability across SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.

An understanding of Power BI or equivalent visualisation tools, such as Tableau.

A service first mindset, being a great communicator, and able to understand the needs of the business.

Degree in a relevant field or equivalent relevant business experience.


Base Salary: £45,000 - £50,000, dependant on experience
