Job Description

**Remote opportunity for seasoned BDM (no drug reps please)

The Business Development Manager (BDM) seeks, secures and grows new business through professional, consultative, and proactive sales activities at existing and new pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and CRO organizations. The BDM effectively identifies and pursues new staffing, Outsourcing and Functional Service Provider (FSP) business opportunities while enhancing relationships with existing clients; keeps abreast of industry trends, competitors' services and acquisitions, and works in conjunction with upper management to develop and respond to new and existing business development opportunities. The BDM develops short and long-term sales strategies including detailed account plans and new account targets by understanding the inside operations of their clients. Must have a long-range understanding of changes in the market and the ability to create opportunities based on client business challenges.


  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all company service offerings for selling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Maintain existing business, and grow wallet share within existing accounts
  • Manage profitability for books of business
  • Develop new relationships in an effort to grow business and help company expand
  • Lead new business development efforts including proposal development, solution design and detailing, pricing and benchmarking and ability to leverage client relationship to present the best possible solution
  • Responsible for development of responses to Requests for Information (RFI) and Proposal (RFP). Prepare budget proposals, bid defense presentations and other related documents. Perform quality edits on all proposal documents and oversee the finalization of documents and distribution to the customer. Present at bid defense meetings and respond to follow-up items.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts
  • Maintain high level of calling activity, and meet weekly, monthly and quarterly sales metrics


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7-10 years of business development experience including a minimum of 5 years of experience within the drug development industry (no drug reps please)
  • Solid understanding of drug discovery and development
  • In-depth knowledge of Clinical Trial Management, Medical Writing, Drug Safety, Biostatistics and Data Management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven knowledge and execution of successful business development strategies
  • Focused and goal-oriented
