Caterpillar's Global Rental and Used Services (GRUES) is investing in our digital future, and we're looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer to help provide technical leadership in design, development, and deployment of our Analytics digital platform. Remote work is available for this role!

In this role you will serve as the technical lead for a team focused on accelerating dealer profitability. You will support used machine sales, pricing trends, and dealer data needs through machine learning analytics applications.

Job Responsibilities:

Collaborate with architects from internal subject matter expert organizations to identify AWS best practices, DevOps best practices, automation and deploying code securely.

Identify architecture changes needed to support new functionality and integrations to other platforms.

Update technical architecture and work with Security Engineering on security controls and approvals.

Develop, test and update CloudFormation templates to deploy AWS infrastructure as code.

Manage release changes via Azure Dev Ops and AWS code pipelines.

Develop, monitor, and maintain ETL for ingestion from internal and external data sources to the analytics platform.

This requires deep expertise with AWS IAM, VPCS, CloudFormation, EC2, Fargate, AWS Lambda, Glue, S3, Snowflake and experience with common design patterns for cross account and cross platform access.

Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness.

Basic Qualifications:

Position requires a four-year degree from an accredited college or university.

7 years or more of software development experience or at least 5 years of experience with master's degree in computer science or related field.

3+ years in Amazon Web Services, infrastructure operations or applications development, with special emphasis in AWS service, AWS Cloud Based Technologies for Data Processing and Persistence (DynamoDB, S3, Aurora, Kinesis, SQS, SNS, Lambda, Fargate, Glue) Cloud ELT/ETL, SQL, Snowflake, and python coding.

Must demonstrate strong leadership, initiative, interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.

Top candidates will also have:

Experience in many of the following:

Working with multiple database sources such as DB2, MS SQL and familiar with pulling data via published APIs

Datastores such as DynamoDB, Aurora PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch, MySQL, Oracle.

Experience writing API proxies on platforms such as Apigee Edge, AWS API Gateway or Azure API Manager

Methods for federated access (PingFed, Windows Active Directory, etc)

Must demonstrate solid knowledge of computer science fundamentals like data structures and algorithms and object-oriented design.

Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.

Great verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical details to leadership in a clear and concise manner, collaborate cross functionally and enhance scalability.

This position has remote flexibility or can be located from one of our offices in Chicago or Peoria, IL or Dallas, TX.
