Job Description

Location: West Midlands

Flexibility: up to 2 days WFH

Salary Guide: £45-65k

Are you a talented Applications Engineer, or are you aiming to be one?

Can you demonstrate that you have a background in areas around mechanical or software engineering gained within the Automotive sector?

The Role:

In the Applications Engineer role you'll report to the Engineering Director and will be primarily accountable for all stages of the customer application through new product development and launch, taking the system from architecture to production. Working closely with the global product development team involving specialists from all fields.

Specific tasks include:

  • Leading customer interactions for all aspects related to e-drives systems
  • Defining the technical requirements of the systems in close collaboration with other departments
  • The implementation and updating of the design process, definition of requirements and technical specifications for e-drive systems

You'll spend part of the working week based in the company's Birmingham office, and the rest of it working from home. Details around how this will work will be revealed on application.


The Candidate:

To be the right person for Applications Engineer role you will need direct experience of areas around mechanical or software engineering.

We also need you to have prior background in or have an appreciation of electrified powertrains.

It's also essential that you've got a background in ECU / power electronics and/or mechanical hardware development.

It's important that you also have the following:

  • Experience in the automotive industry in a development environment
  • The ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and in global, matrix-structured organisations
  • Sound analytical and organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively

You'll also need to be the following:

  • Able to demonstrate you are a change leader with adaptability and continuous improvement personality traits
  • A strong team player, able to manage numerous projects and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Able to demonstrate a strong engineering background, with clear experience working in a high-performing and close-nit team

The Package:

The basic salary for the Applications Engineer role is up to £65,000 per annum.
