Overview
UnityPoint Health is hiring an Application Solutions Analyst Senior! This position plays a critical role in ensuring that domain applications are effectively evaluated, implemented, maintained, optimized, and decommissioned. This involves forging partnerships with customers to determine needs, understanding application capabilities, and the completion of workflow analysis, design and requirements documentation.
Applicants can expect to be responsible for architecture design and process workflow design/review of enterprise applications in their domain and the associated implementation and optimization designs. This position works collaboratively with operational stakeholders, portfolio leadership, informatics, Applications Solutions Architects, project management and Managed Service Providers to ensure alignment with organizational and business needs.
We are looking for candidates that have a deep understanding of application workflows, standards, and capabilities and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve the organization's goals. This position ensures application high availability, technical mentorship, process
improvement, testing and quality assurance of applications in the technology environment.
This role is at the forefront of ensuring the applications support the delivery of high-quality and streamlined business processes, workflows, and solutions that contribute to the overall success of UPH.
Location: Remote - applicants preferably reside within the UPH footprint of Iowa, Illinois, or Wisconsin
Hours: Monday-Friday, standard business hours

Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Requirements Definition/Management:
- Takes responsibility for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organization change.
- Facilitates scoping and business priority setting for large or complex changes, engaging senior stakeholders as required.
- Selects the most appropriate means of representing business requirements in the context of a specific change initiative.
- Drives the requirements elicitation process where necessary, identifying what stakeholder input is required.
- Obtains formal agreement from a large and diverse range of stakeholders and recipients to the scope and requirements, plus the establishment of a base-line on which delivery of a solution can commence.
- Takes responsibility for the investigation and application of changes to program scope.
- Identifies the impact on business requirements of external impacts affecting a program or project.
- Collaborates with business and clinical users and stakeholders to gather and document business and clinical requirements for new applications and optimizations.
- Conducts feasibility studies to evaluate the technical and operational viability of new applications and optimizations. This includes assessing compatibility with existing systems and infrastructure.
- Evaluates potential vendors and third-party solutions, ensuring they meet the organization’s standards and requirements.
- Develops and presents prototypes or proof-of-concept applications and configurations to stakeholders for feedback and approval.
- Applies and monitors the use of required modelling and analysis tools, methods and standards, giving special consideration to business perspectives.
- Conducts investigations at a high level for strategy studies, business requirements specifications and feasibility studies.
- Identifies stakeholders and their business needs; prepares business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks.
Enterprise & Business Architecture:
- Contributes to the creation and review of a systems capability strategy which meets the strategic requirements of the business.
- Develops models and plans to drive forward the strategy, taking advantage of opportunities to improve business performance.
- Understands HIPAA standards, regulatory, and security requirements pertaining to database, server, and/or application management. May include documenting compliance requirements and implementing process
Emerging Technology Monitoring:
- Monitors the market to gain knowledge and understanding of currently emerging technologies.
- Identifies new and emerging hardware and software technologies and products based on own area of expertise.
- Assesses their relevance and potential value to the organization.
- Contributes to briefings of staff and management.
Service Delivery/Operational Coordination:
- Leads decision-making discussions to determine strategy for implementation of tools and systems.
- Facilitates decision-making or technical solution-oriented discussions with staff.
- Continuously monitor and update release schedules and version updates of applications.
- Assess the potential impacts of upgrades, optimization and implementation on existing workflows, integrations, and user experience.
- Communicates upgrade, optimization and implementation plans and timelines to all relevant stakeholders, including business and clinical owners, business and clinical users, IT staff, and executive leadership.
- Develops test plans and ensures applications have updated comprehensive test plans including unit testing, system testing, integrated testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Ensures that training materials and support resources are updated to reflect changes introduced by upgrades.
- Coordinates the deployment of upgrades, implementations and optimizations in collaboration with IT operations, ensuring minimal disruption to business processes and services.
- Recommends and implements appropriate security processes, templates and configurations for supported applications.
- Creates and maintains technical documentation. Communicates necessary information to the required teams.
- Develops and maintains onboarding and ongoing training documents.
- Mentors team members and fosters a culture of innovation, learning, teamwork, professionalism and engagement consistent with the mission, vision, and goals of UnityPoint Health
- Leads researching solutions to improve service such as processes, standards and/or products.
- Demonstrates adherence to application standards and guidelines.
- Plans technical and operational implementation cutover and go live support and supports the resolution of cutover issues.
- Leads and coordinates projects involving multiple teams
- Analyzes and plans complex projects including task identification, task schedule, status reporting, and facilitates meetings.
- Portrays a highly proactive approach to projects. Exhibits skill in tracking project progress,timelines and escalates issues/risks appropriately.
- Advocates for standard and best practice solutions as necessary.
- Collaborate with Managed Service Provider to deliver implementation and optimization solutions through the development of detailed requirements for hand off to the Managed Service Provider for configuration.
- Perform testing of Managed Service Provider deliverables
- Develop security templates to support Managed Service Provider deliverables.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting assistance in support of Managed Service Provider as required.
- Partner with Managed Service Provider to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency and cost optimization.
Application Rationalization, Data Migration & Decommissioning:
- Develops detailed project plans for the decommissioning of domain applications, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Ensures that data from decommissioned applications is securely and accurately migrated to new systems or archived according to regulatory requirements.
- Informs all relevant stakeholders about decommissioning plans and timelines, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Oversees the safe and orderly shutdown of decommissioned applications, ensuring all dependencies are addressed.
- Creates support plans for the transition period following decommissioning and ensures issues that arise are addressed.
- Ensures that all decommissioning activities are thoroughly documented, including lessons learned and best practices for future projects.
- Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all domain applications within the organization.
- Performs regular usage analysis to identify underutilized or redundant applications.
- Works with clinical, business and IT leaders to prioritize applications for rationalization based on strategic goals and resource availability.
- Conducts cost-benefit analyses to assess the impact of continuing, consolidating, or decommissioning applications.
- Develops and executes plans to streamline the application portfolio, reducing complexity and improving efficiency.
- Reviews current system functionality to determine if proposed applications have similar workflows to determine if redundancies provide opportunities for consolidation.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Finance, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Master's degree in Computer Science; Computer and Information Sciences or other Science, Technology, Busines and Clinical disciplines preferred
Experience:
- Required: 5 years of experience working with clinical / financial /ERP applications and healthcare IT systems, including experience in health care organization information systems processes
- Required: 5 years of in-depth knowledge of domain area and experience developing design requirements and specifications
- Required: 5 years of coaching or mentorship experience
- Required: 5 years of project management experience
Certifcations/Licenses:
- Required: Epic or ERP related application certifcations
- Preferred: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
