Performs account reconciliations and analyses, prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Analyzes and prepares financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position. Involved in the monthly/quarterly 'close' process. Prepares documentation in support of external and internal audits. *Employees in jobs labeled with 'SCA' must support a government Service Contract Act (SCA) agreement.Primary Responsibilities: Billing State Government contracts involving detailed contract review, working closely with program managers, and discussing billing related requirements/issues directly with State Government customers Partners with Project Managers to understand project deliverables while helping develop, adhere to, and execute on billing processes including complex/unique Government billing requirements Supports the preparation and review of a variety of complex financial/billing data sets and reports (i.e. AR reporting and balance sheet forecasting requirements) Aids in the reconciliation of data imported from the Peoplesoft General Ledger into the Costpoint Government Ledger Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reports Perform account reconciliations and analyses, prepares journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial position Supports the monthly/quarterly close process adhering to timelines Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits Review the work of others Develop innovative approaches for continued improvement in efficiency and effectiveness Generally, work is self-directed and not prescribed Works with less structured, more complex issues Serves as a resource to others Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with concentration in Accounting 5+ years of Accounting experience Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.) If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. Preferred Qualifications: CPA Government accounting experience Billing experience Experience in large matrix organizations Experience with Peoplesoft Financials, Hyperion SmartView / Essbase, Deltek Costpoint and Blackline Public accounting experience Strong communication and interpersonal skills Motivated self-starter with exceptional time management skills Careers with Optum.
